FAQ's Will All Visits Cost the Same Amount?The first visit usually costs more than subsequent visits. Generally, it takes additional cleaning tasks to get the home up to The Cleaning Girls's standards. This visit is performed on an hourly basis. Your estimate for this visit will be expressed as a cost range. We will contact you for authorization for more time in the event your team considers it necessary.Once this initial visit has occurred, your home’s cleanliness can be easily maintained with our regular visit cleaning tasks. Regular visits are generally charged at a flat rate, however inconsistent visits or special project requests will be best suited with an hourly rate. You will receive a time estimate for both the initial cleaning and the regular cleanings.Do I Have To Be Home When The Cleaning Girls Clean? We prefer to have an empty house. It is much more efficient for us. You may give us a key to be safely stored – always with “double-blind” security. Only the owner and/or manager can access the client key safe. The ladies are given the keys for each cleaning appointment daily and must turn these back in to management before they are allowed to leave for the evening. These keys are returned to the key safe until the next cleaning appointment. Do You Guarantee a Day and Time for My Cleaning Appointment? The Cleaning Girls ordinarily guarantees a specific day for your cleaning and an approximate time. Due to our flexible and ever-changing schedule, we can generally give close time frames for our arrival. If you need a specific time guarantee, feel free to discuss with the owner or management. Within reason, we will do our best to reach a mutually agreeable solution. What If I Need to Reschedule a Cleaning? Simply call our office prior to your cleaning day. A minimum of 24-hours notice to reschedule your cleaning is requested.Unlike the airlines, we do not overbook our schedule. So, if you need to reschedule a cleaning without proper notice, we will not have enough opportunity to fill the schedule with another client. This decreases the maids’ pay. Without consistent wages, we cannot retain the best talent to clean for you. Thus, respecting our procedure for reschedules helps insure you will get the best service possible. We will assess a cancellation fee if necessary, although we want to help you avoid incurring these fees! What If I Accidentally Lock the Cleaning Girls Out on My Cleaning Day? Just as with rescheduling fees, if you lock the team out on cleaning day, you will be assessed a $50 lock-out fee. Most of our clients either provide us a key or hide one on the premises on cleaning day. What Should I Do About My Security/Alarm System on Cleaning Day? If you have a security system, please make necessary arrangements to give your team access to your home on your scheduled day. Some clients establish a guest or temporary code for us. Are My Valuables Safe with The Cleaning Girls? If you have any special valuables, heirlooms or irreplaceable items, please put them away or instruct us not to touch them. A closed door or drawer is your signal to us that you do not want that area to be cleaned. The Cleaning Girl carries all the necessary insurances in the event that any damage occurs. How Shall I Pay for My Cleaning? You may pay by cash, check or credit card. Payment is due at time of service. If you do not intend to be at home at time of service you may choose to either leave cash or a check on the kitchen counter the morning of your cleaning. If you choose to pay by credit card, we will keep your credit card information on file at the office and charge your card once each cleaning is completed. A fee will be assessed for all returned checks. How Do I Know I Can Trust Your Staff? We pride ourselves on attracting the best talent available. We screen our maids carefully, we train meticulously, we inspect relentlessly and we insure heavily. We do all this so that you can have the highest confidence to trust us with the care of your home.What Should I do with my dog?We always ask if you have pets so we calm them by name when we come in. While you’r'e at it, set aside a big bowl for accumulating loose change (a great place to keep it is in the laundry room). Sleep Tight Don't Let the Bed Bugs...When moms of yesteryear said, "Sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite," we gave it little thought. However, today that bedtime wish has become more like a nighttime caution. Bedbugs are back –to an unusual extent. These unpleasant parasites look to resting humans and animals as their food source. Dirt and unsanitary conditions do not play a part in attracting these pests. Rather, they are drawn to the carbon dioxide and body heat we emit. Once they have had their meal, they scurry off and hide, an attribute that makes them difficult to control.Signs of Bedbugs Despite their propensity to hide, bedbugs can sometimes be seen by the naked eye. Adult bugs are 1/8"-1/4" long, tan to reddish in color, with an oval shape that resembles an apple seed. Because they are translucent until maturity, young bedbugs are harder to spot. Signs of bedbugs include tiny bloodstains, eggs and live or dead insects on bedding, mattresses, headboards and other fixtures that are close to the bed, such as night tables, curtains and blinds. You may also notice a sweet, pungent odor.If you are bitten, red welts or a rash on the body will also indicate their presence. Since bedbugs have not been shown to transmit disease, the main side effect of this rash is extreme discomfort. Washing with soap and water can help ease the reaction. Avoid scratching. It will make the reaction much worse. If you continue to experience discomfort, consult your doctor or pharmacist.Preventing Infestation Before DDT was banned in 1972, bedbugs were easy to control – and to eliminate. Today, the process is much more challenging. If caught in the very early stages of infestation, it is possible to eliminate them. At later stages, or if early intervention doesn't work, professional extermination is usually required.Preventing infestation is the best form of bedbug control. Nancy Bock, Vice President of Consumer Education at the American Cleaning Institute® offers these suggestions:Usually bedbugs come into the home by hitching a ride on your luggage or personal items. When staying in a hotel, check the room, particularly the bedding and around the headboard, for signs of infestation. Change rooms immediately if you see any sign of the insects.Even if the room has no signs of bedbugs, do not put your clothing or luggage directly on the bed. Don't put your luggage on the floor, either. Use the metal luggage rack or put it on top of the desk.Don't accept secondhand furniture or bedding unless you are certain that the source is bedbug-free. Antique furniture should also be carefully examined. If Infestation Appears... Before calling a professional exterminator, here are some steps to try:If you have clothing that has become infested, undress on a hard-surface floor. Wipe the floor to capture any bedbugs that have fallen off the clothing.Place the clothing in a plastic bag so it can go directly into the washing machine without the bugs escaping. Wash and dry them at the hottest settings that are safe for the fabrics.Infested bedding should also go directly into a plastic bag and then into the washing machine and dryer.Vacuum bedding and furniture thoroughly. Use a crevice tool to get into all the hard-to-reach places. Vacuum floorboards, the wall behind the bed; take the bed apart and vacuum the headboard and the bed frame. If luggage has been exposed to bedbugs, give it, too, a thorough vacuuming. Remove the vacuum bag, seal it up and dispose of it.

Article 3 How often Should I Have My House Cleaned?One of the questions often asked by homeowners hiring a cleaning company for the first time is, “How often should I have you come?” This can be a complicated decision. Following is some advice, which might help.Start with how often you clean your own home. Not just a quick tidy up when friends or family are on the way over; a real cleaning. The times you pull out the vacuum, roll up your sleeves, clean the bathrooms, showers, baseboards, polish the furniture, mop the floors, etc…...The most important aspect of this decision-making process is to not try to fit into someone else’s mold. What is YOUR frequency?Then, look at what other family or household members do to either contribute to the overall cleanliness of the house or add to the mess. Look realistically at what can be done in-between cleaning visits. Are members of the household equally contributing to maintaining the space? Or is the burden unevenly distributed? Perhaps the reason for bringing in outside professional help is to “balance out” the situation. Although cleaning services are not always recognized for this particular quality, it is fair to say that the services provided have helped to save many marriages and contributed to happier homes! You'll also have to consider budget; maybe a weekly cleaning would be ideal, but you have to stay within tight fiscal limits. On average, a general cleaning visit will typically cost around $95- $200 (this varies by geography and also size of the property to be cleaned). Most services will vary in price according to frequency and services provided. Also, keep in mind that a bi-weekly, or monthly cleaning will usually cost more each visit than a weekly cleaning due to cleaning rotations and attention to detail. Pricing will also be determined by the level of service you want. Be sure to communicate clearly your expectations as well as understand what the cleaning service you are interviewing provides.Most professional cleaning services will provide regular service based on just about any schedule, including weekly, bi-weekly, every four weeks (monthly), and sometimes every three or six weeks. The most common cleaning schedule is service every two weeks (bi-weekly). If you spend “real” time cleaning your home every week or more than once a week, then a weekly schedule may be the best option for you and your home.A good place to start is calculating the greatest length of time between cleanings you can go; a cleaning every four weeks might accommodate budget and take care of your cleaning needs.
